The VHSMA course offerings prepare students for entry-level employment in health care facilities, as well as laying a good foundation for students planning to continue their education in medicine, dentistry, or allied health areas.
Our program includes scientific concepts relating to health care based on structure and function of the body systems in health and disease; common skills performed by health care workers in hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care agencies; the opportunity to explore the characteristics of workers in major health career clusters. Also included are communication skills, legal and ethical practices, safe work practices, leadership and employability skills.
Off campus clinical learning experiences are required. Health Occupations Students of America, Inc. (HOSA) is an integral part of the vocational instructional program.
